History of Viera East

Plans for Viera East were approved by Brevard County in 1990 and construction began in 1992. Viera East was the first section of Viera to be developed and is, therefore, the oldest section of Viera, FL. The land was developed by the Viera Company, which is a subsidiary of A. Duda and Sons. The name Viera derives from the Slovak language and means "faith." The community was named in honor of the family patriarch, Andrew Duda, who emigrated to the United States in 1912 from Slovakia.
