Brevard Zoo Linear Park, Viera, FL

Brevard Zoo Linear Park

There is a natural wonder in Melbourne most have yet to discover.

Situated just behind the main entrance to The Brevard Zoo, you will find Linear Park and its two-mile boardwalk trail. The perfect spot for a run or a walk among the wetlands – without getting wet!

Longer than they are wide, linear parks are all about enjoying the journey.

Need a break from the four-walls of your office? Linear Park is a great place to take a stroll and breathe in some fresh air while enjoying the wildlife and natural splendor all around.

Are the children getting a little restless? Bring them out for a healthy dose of nature with close-up views of native birds, turtles, wild flowers, palm trees and oak hammocks.

Change things up on your next pet outing and take your dog out for a peaceful walk among the Florida scenery. The trail offers sunny areas but also plenty of shaded spots.

The ten-foot wide boardwalk is constructed out of recycled plastic planks – making it an easy walking surface.  The relaxing, meandering trail offers comfortable access for all – including those in wheelchairs and strollers. There are plenty of benches along the way to rest or simply take in the beauty of your surroundings.

The trail is maintained by the Brevard Zoo and the land for the trail was donated by A. Duda and Sons with a large pond donated by S&S Enterprises.

Eventually, the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization would like to extend the trail to the Pineda Causeway.

The Brevard Zoo is located at 8225 North Wickham Road in Viera. Pull into the zoo, and follow the drive past the parking lot straight back. Linear Park Trail is at the end of the drive.

The trail is open during the zoo's normal operating hours. It is open to the public and no zoo entry is required.
